Acne can be unpredictable and quite annoying, but the truth is
that it is one of the most common skin conditions in teenagers around the
world. Acne is caused due to the excess production of oil from the sebaceous
glands that lead to the obstruction of the hair follicles.
Dark spots and Acne are common in people of all ages due to lot of
reasons. Acne marks and dark spots show skin damage.
In Ayurveda, acne is
known as 'Yauvan Pidika' and is believed to be a manifestation of an aggravated
Pitta dosha. Yauvan means teenage and pidika means pustules. In addition to
your face, acne can affect the shoulders and the back area, too. Ayurveda has
many natural approaches that can help control acne as Dehydration, poor diet
and impurities in the environment cause acne.
According to Ayurveda, there are three fundamental doshas:
Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and good health is considered a perfect state of balance
between these three doshas. It is said that acne is an aggravating factor of
pitta dosha, which acts under the skin and leads to heated toxins, which are
triggered as acne. The Pitta had further damaged the Rakta and Meda Dhatu
(blood and fatty tissues), producing toxins that blocked the pores of the skin,
leading to the formation of acne. And, when combined with Vata, it caused pain
in the affected region. To keep acne at bay, one must adopt a pacifying diet of
pitta. Those who see frequent acne breakouts should avoid spicy and fermented
foods. Very fried and bitter foods should also be avoided.
